ABOUT ALICIA

NEW LEADERSHIP FOR STRONGER, SAFER COMMUNITIES

Alicia Walton is a lifelong Arkansan, a veteran, mother, sister and friend to many.  She comes from humble beginnings in Marianna, where her parents emphasized faith, love and family.  Alicia’s father is a veteran, a farmer and worked for the local Chrysler plant.  Alicia’s mother was a homemaker and drove a school bus.  Alicia’s parents taught her and her eighteen brothers and sisters they could become anything with hard work and determination.

Alicia made Pulaski County her home in 1995.  After receiving her law degree from the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, she worked for the Arkansas Center for Legal Services and opened a private practice firm focusing on criminal justice.

Alicia left private practice to join the Pulaski County Public Defender Office where she continues her work in Criminal Justice.  She is an experienced trial court litigator adept in handling adult and juvenile criminal matters. Working at the Public Defender’s Office has let Alicia serve the communities of Pulaski and Perry Counties in the seven District (Misdemeanor) Courts, five Circuit (Felony) Courts, three Juvenile (Youth Crimes) Courts and four Specialty (Veterans, Drug, Mental Health and Sobriety) Courts.

Because of her passion for helping veterans, Alicia was instrumental in creating the Pulaski County Veterans Treatment Court.  She also worked to establish the Pulaski County Crisis Stabilization Unit and the Little Rock District Court’s Mental Health Program.

Alicia is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served with the 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California; and the Arkansas Army National Guard.  She is active in the community serving on various boards and committees.

Alicia is the mother of three amazing children; all are graduates of North Little Rock High School.  She enjoys going on adventures with her grandchildren and rescue pup, Athena.

Alicia believes that the current criminal legal system is fundamentally flawed and needs reform minded individuals in order to achieve equity.   It’s time for Alicia Walton – the Progressive Candidate.
